TrackMan data in positioning evaluation tools
TrackMan data is now available in TruMedia's infield and outfield positioning evaluation tools, for clients with TrackMan data enabled.
TrackMan's minor-league batted-ball data can be used when the following fields are present. These fields are necessary to approximate the inputs for our infield and outfield out-probability models and hypothetical fielder alignments.
Infield
Exit Velocity
Launch Angle
Batted Ball Angle
Outfield
Exit Velocity
Launch Angle
Batted Ball Angle
Batted Ball Distance
Hang Time
The Statcast/Non-Statcast toggle (highlighed below) allows users to pick the data set. As an example, Elly De La Cruz had a sample size of 177 ground balls using data in 2023...

By including minor-league TrackMan data, the sample size increases to 188 ground balls.

This feature is also available in the Custom Page Builder.
Choose an Outfield Positioning component.
Tap the Settings gear.
Choose Yes or No in the “Use non-statcast data” dropdown menu.
